Ask what was true on a date

Bitemporal recall: what was true then, and what JustOnce believed then, are stored separately.

Because corrections keep history, your assistant can answer questions in the past tense:

  • "Where did I live in 2023?"

  • "What was our insurance excess as of 1 March 2026?"

  • "Who was the account manager for Acme before Jo?"

Under the hood the assistant calls get_as_of with an entity, a relation and an instant. Two details worth knowing:

  • A bare date means midnight UTC. "As of 28 July" is the very start of that day. For "as of now" the assistant passes the current time.

  • Two timelines. Valid time is when a fact was true in the world; belief time is when JustOnce recorded it. "What did my record say before I corrected it?" is a belief-time question — the assistant passes as_of_believed.

The answer carries the value's validity window, a confidence, and a margin — how far ahead the winning value is over the runner-up. A small margin means close evidence, and a good assistant mentions the alternative.

A memory's own timeline is in its History view, or through get_memory_history.

ChatGPT and Codex aren't offered get_as_of. There, ask for a specific memory's history instead, open its History in the app, or ask the date question through Claude, Cursor or another client.
