How memories are organised: the 18 categories

JustOnce files each memory automatically. Here are the categories and what lands where.

You never tag or file anything. On save, JustOnce reads the memory and assigns one of these categories:

Category

Typical contents

Identity

Your own details: legal name, date and place of birth, citizenship, passport, licence and ID numbers

Property & Home

Where you live or what you own: lease, rent, mortgage, home address, maintenance

Education

Your enrolment, courses, degrees, transcripts, student number

Family

Your family members and facts about them: their birthdays, schools, jobs

Employment

Your employer, job title, payslips, employment contract, work history

Finance

Bank statements, tax, superannuation, investments, loans

Bills & Utilities

Electricity, water, gas, internet and phone bills

Insurance

Policies, claims, renewals

Health

Prescriptions, appointments, test results, Medicare

Legal

Contracts, agreements, wills, powers of attorney

Vehicles

Registration, service history, driver-licence records

Travel

Bookings, itineraries, visas, loyalty programs

Contacts

People and tradespeople and how to reach them (an insurer's claims line goes under Insurance)

Credentials

Logins: account numbers, member IDs, and references to PINs and passwords

Subscriptions

Recurring services, memberships, software licences

Shopping

Receipts, warranties, returns, orders

Ideas & Notes

Thoughts, personal notes, reminders

Other

Anything that genuinely fits nowhere else; JustOnce marks it for your review

On Home, the Categories view shows a card for each category with its count; click one to browse it. If a memory is filed somewhere surprising, open it, click Edit and choose the right category. When an assistant corrects a memory, the category is rebuilt from the new wording, so a word of context (for example the insurer's name) helps.

In ChatGPT and Codex

Memories filed under Credentials, Identity, Health or Finance, memories JustOnce hasn't confidently filed yet (such as Other), and anything holding a password, card or ID number are kept out of ChatGPT and Codex. They're still in your vault: open them in the app, or recall them through Claude, Cursor or another client.
